Girls Only Fastball (Ages 9-25)

Updated Friday January 27, 2017 by South London Baseball.

As outlined on our program objectives page, the fastball program is designed to meet Stages 3, 4 and 5 of the Long Term Athlete Development model; Stage 3: Learn to Train, Stage 4:Train to Train and Stage 5: Train to Win. These stages are progressively introduced as athletes get older and begin to have different expectations of their sport experience.

The fastball program is for girls only and is tailored towards providing an environment that is supportive to help athletes build confidence. Starting out in fastball, our Mite players transition from the Learn-to-Play program. This is done using the moifications to softball including a smaller size ball, playing on a smaller diamond and participating in friendly tournaments and friendship games throughout the year.

As players age, they are progressively introduced to different elements of the game, helping to grow their sport experience. Base stealing, curve balls, inning duration increases, rule changes etc. are all introduced overtime so athletes can work on their fundamental skillset at a young age without worrying about all the big time National Rules. As players age and become more specialized, playing one or two sports, rules are added to various elements of the game.

The table below provides a brief overview of the game differences in age divisions as players progress through our programs:
